The Riwaayat Biryani

A Family Man, Foodie and Flavourist.

Kolkatans don’t just eat biryani. They live it, debate it, and judge restaurants by it. We know — because we’re one of you.
Riwaayat was born from a frustration every true Kolkatan has felt. Because for a city that takes its food this seriously, quality Mughlai deserved better. The real dum. The slow-cooked gravies. The kind of richness that doesn’t rush. It was either hard to find, or hard to afford — and that never sat right with us.
So Riwaayat was built on one stubborn belief — that authentic Mughlai food has no business being a luxury. The Nawabi technique, the aged spices, the patience behind every dish — none of it should come with a price tag that keeps people away.
We didn’t reinvent anything. We just refused to compromise on it.

Because here, there’s no right way or wrong way. There’s only the Riwaayat way.

"Egg stays. Aloo forever."

Why We Started

Kolkata loves its Mughlai — kebabs, biryani, the works. But good quality always came with a heavy bill. And affordable always meant a compromise on taste.
I saw that gap. And I couldn’t ignore it. Riwaayat was born to fix exactly that. Our spices come straight from the lanes of Jama Masjid, Delhi — processed fresh, right here in house. No shortcuts. Just come in. Taste it. And give me your honest feedback. That’s all I ask.
